How to Stay Sane, Even if You Stare at a Computer all Day

12/23/16

As many of you have noticed, I haven't been actively posting lately and the reason is simple: I simply don't have the energy to do so.
Even if you love and are passionate about what you do, sometimes you just get tired of the routine. Sit and stare at a computer all day, sit and stare at a computer all day and repeat.

I've just recently hit a milestone in my career, and found an industry, while demanding and challenging, shares the same values as me.

After taking the day to decompress and reflect, I have accepted that after a long day of staring at a screen a day, I simply don't want to do the same when I get home.

I've decided to write this post; a list of things to do that can help you and me stay sane after and during a long day at work. I'm sharing this with you in hopes that it will help you and keep me accountable.

Change of Scenery:
I'm always moving around at work, the first few hours you can find me on my desk but for the rest of the day I'll be all over the place. The floor, the couch, the conference room, the kitchen, the coffee shop across the street. I simply cannot stand sitting in one place for 8 hours. I work in a creative industry and I know that the office desk is not where my creative ideas flourish, it's when I'm walking, lying down, anything but sitting in an office chair. Not to mention, sunlight and fresh air always help me get energized.

Take a Break:
Now this is up to you. A break for me means hitting the gym at 12 o'clock to get my endorphins running. Once I've gotten a good yoga sesh I can come back to the screen energized and ready to work. This is just what works for me, this may not work for you. You may need to go for a walk once of twice, and some people need to take a break every half-hour. You'll need to find what works best for you and your body.

Stay off of Social when You're not Working:
A lot of us, myself included are guilty of this: scrolling through social media when we're off duty. I've been working on making it an effort to stay off of social media when at home and out with loved ones. It's important to my health, not to mention my vision.
Trust me our bodies, our brains, and our eyes will be a lot happier if we do so. If you're a blogger like myself, schedule the time to do blogging WORK & stay off of your phone and computer when it's not time. Do something productive, active even trust me you'll love yourself for doing so.
