Tips on Staying Organized

10/5/15

It’s almost been a month since my last blog post, and I apologize for that.

Senior year took a toll on me. I wasn’t expecting this academic year to be as busy as it is now. My school recently went through formal sorority recruitment, and if you’ve ever experienced it you’d know that it is exhausting + time consuming.

Once recruitment ended, midterms started. And in between all of that I got hit with a cold.

I was also inconsistent with my meal plans. I didn’t stop working out because it made me feel better and it helped me cope with my stress.

I know this is no excuse for not committing to do something I love to do.

I know that I have to work on my time management skills. Carrying a virtual calendar (Google Calendar) is helpful… to a certain extent.

I can’t plan my workout or my meal plans on there, and the to-do list isn’t as convenient as I thought it would be.

I need to find the time to update my blog, workout 5 days a week, and meal prep. It’s going to be hard because I have a busy school and internship schedule, but I have to commit.

One thing I learned in a time-management workshop I took two years ago is that it always helps to write things down. It’ll make your life easier, keep you organized and increase your productivity. There’s good evidence that writing things down helps us remember them better.

Every morning wake up + tell yourself what you want to accomplish that day. Once you’ve done that write it down.  Make sure it’s visible so put it on your planner or make a sticky note + post it on your mirror or fridge.

If you’re like me, and love making lists invest in sticky notes + a good planner. Write down your to-do list and weekly goals. You’ll have them in the back of your mind throughout the day and you’ll also have a visual of them.

If you’re a visual learner, invest in colorful pens or highlighters + color code everything! You can use this to help you distinguish classes or important events/dates.

I’m excited to focus on myself now that recruitment + midterms are over. I just ordered the Passion Planner and I’m so excited to use it! I also, purchased Anna Victoria’s meal + workout guides, which I have been using for a few weeks and I absolutely love (A review coming soon). Most importantly, I promise to publish a new blog post every 2 weeks.

Stay tuned for what’s to come ~
